Every collection tube receives a unique serial number, which allows for safe and anonymous tracking of the sample, with no risk of it being identified by an unwanted person.
Norgen Biotek's Saliva DNA Preservative is an aqueous storage buffer designed for rapid cellular lysis and subsequent preservation of DNA from fresh specimens, such as saliva. The buffer secures the sample by preventing the growth of Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria and fungi, and inactivating viruses.
The buffer eliminates the need to immediately process or freeze samples and allows the samples to be shipped at ambient temperature. The components of the buffer, which are patented and restricted by the producer, allow samples to be stored for more than 5 years without any detectable DNA degradation.

Rinse your mouth with water and wait for 30 minutes.
Spit into the funnel until the amount of liquid saliva (not air bubbles) in the test tube reaches 2 ml. If you notice an excess of air bubbles, remove them by gently tapping the test tube against a hard surface. Throw away the funnel or recycle it.
Unscrew and remove the cap from the ampoule consisting the preservative liquid.
Squeeze the ampoule to pour its whole content to the test tube.
Use the cap to firmly seal the test tube.
Shake strongly (over 10 seconds) to mix the liquid.
The saliva sample is now stabilized and ready for storage, transport or analysis.
Throw away the ampoule that contained the preservative liquid to the trash. The package can be recycled.
